Your Challenge Today:
Being happy with who you are …
By Bernadette Kathryn, LMT, IHLC
The only thing that will make you happy
is being happy with who you are, and
not who people think you are.
~ Goldie Hawn
Being happy with who you are ~ that is a challenge for many people, including myself sometimes. We humans have a tendency to short change ourselves by trying to fit in with others at the expense of our own true self. We mistake being accepted as part of the crowd for happiness, especially when we are young. We tell ourselves that we will be happy when ________ (you can fill in the blank). When we don’t have a strong sense of self with clearly defined goals, we can torture ourselves trying to find our place in the world, trying to fit into the cool crowd. Taking time to listen to your heart and follow your desires with a clear goal ensures that you are on your own path, fulfilling your own destiny.
Our mission here is to make this world a healthier, happier place ~ one game at a time, one player at a time. What that means for you and I is, working together to create the life of our dreams, using each other for reassurance. Designing strategies that will support our personal growth while developing our body, mind and spirit to create our dream life. So much of what we have to enjoy in this lifetime is what we make of it, how we perceive ourselves and what how we feed ourselves.
When we take time each day to reflect on what is important to us, review our goals and look for the pleasure that is all around us, we are setting the stage for our success. One of my goals is to keep clearing the clutter in my home and in my mind, clearing space to breathe deeper and live a more relaxed life. That doesn’t mean sitting around on the sofa all day eating bon bons and watching TV, it does means making time to enjoy the park, my furry friends, my gal pals and BFF’s, working mindfully and being kind to myself. You see, I am a Libra and we like beautiful things. I like to see beautiful things ~ flowers, trees, art, smiles and I need to live in a home that is beautiful. It is important to my well-being that my personal space is a pleasing to be in, it is soothing to my soul. My home needs to be my sanctuary that is healing and restorative to me so that when I emerge from home each day to go to work, I feel strong and clear.
