A warm smile …

A warm smile is
the universal language of kindness.
~ William Arthur Ward
A warm smile is the universal language of kindness … isn’t that the truth! How fabulous do you feel when you receive a smile from someone? A smile is a gift, it can brighten your mood, it can disarm you if you allow it and it can bring a smile to your pretty face as well. A smile lifts your face; it makes you look more youthful and adds shine to your persona. It’s just as easy to smile as it is to frown, it’s a choice much like seeing a glass as half full … there are always two sides to a situation, sometimes more. When we choose to look at the world with a bright shining smile, the world smiles back at you.
Smiles and laughter are infectious — they make us feel good, and they are hard to ignore! Laughing and smiling is good for our soul. Genuine laughter increases breathing while lowering blood pressure and heart rate. We mimic the facial expressions of others and reciprocate, and it can be contagious in social situations. Smiling helps bond people together. Smiling has physiological consequences which help us feel better and want to grin more. Smiling self-medicates and heals, it’s good medicine. Smiling has obvious, quick and immediate rewards to those who practice smiling: they feel better, others respond more positively to them, and they succeed in their endeavors swiftly and often … therefore, they feel better about themselves and their efforts and smile more naturally and frequently.

today i am smiling to our friend. my husband’s best friend of 63 years and a friend of mind now for some 32 years. i hope he can see me smiling and know that i love him.
He probably does Debbie – life long friends like that can feel you and your love!
I smile because I love what I am doing and who I am with in my life. I also find that when I am in the “flow/groove” in life and at work that I can really see the divine in others, their sacred source within. I remember that we are all just people who started out as infants and we all have the same basic needs to be understood and valued; I smile at the sweetness of that and see the humor when we try to act as though we are not vulnerable. Another thing that makes my whole body smile is when I am swimming, especially after having been away from the pool for several days or a week. I love feeling weightless and supported.
Thank you Pamela — it is so important to like who we are in our life — finding ways to express our inner spirit, making our own heart sing is such a beautiful gift to ourselves and the world.
I am smiling about all of my wonderful girl friends, all of the love and support that I receive from them — thank you ladies!
