Your Challenge Today:
By Bernadette Kathryn, LMT, IHLC
The thing that is really hard, and really amazing,
is giving up on being perfect
and beginning the work of becoming yourself.
~ Anna Quindlen
It is really hard to give up the idea of being perfect or normal ~ perfection is an illusion and what is normal anyway?
The ultimate goal is becoming yourself.
- Who are you?
- What makes you tick?
- What gets you jazzed up?
- What tickles your funny bone?
- Where do you want to go?
- What do you want to do?
- What do you want to learn?
- What gets you excited to get up in the morning?
I believe that we are a work in progress ~ a project of ever evolving spiritual beings. Everyday we are born again, we are given a clean slate to explore ~ we have a brand new 24 hours, 1440 minutes to invest in our lives any way we choose. If we want to embark on a new adventure, go back to school, take up ballroom dancing or look for a mate ~ it’s all up to us and we get to choose.
I believe that we each have our own unique gifts, talents and stories ~ we were brought into this life to share our gifts with the world and enjoy our lives. That is not to say that we won’t experience some hardship along the way. But, it is the experiences that we go through that shape our lives, good and bad. To everyday there is light and dark, to every life there is happy and sad. We cannot control everything that happens in our lives but we can control how we respond to our life events and learn from our experiences. We can learn from our mistakes and we can learn from the mistakes of others if we are paying attention!
The place where we get tripped up sometimes is
~ trying too hard to fit in ~
~ trying to be like everyone else ~
~ trying to be normal ~
A big part of our adventure here on earth is learning to celebrate our uniqueness. We are special, we are extraordinary and our quest is to learn to love and appreciate ourselves. Our journey is exclusive to us, our spirit and our spiritual lessons. When we spend too much time trying to be like everyone else ~ we are denying our own spirit needs.
