My Challenge Today:
Kind words …
By Bernadette Kathryn, LMT, IHLC
Kind words not only lift our spirits in the moment they are given,
but they can linger with us over the years.
~ Joseph B. Wirthlin
Kind words are a very inexpensive tool to share with those around us. Kind words open doors, build bridges and establish rapport. When kind words are spoken with authenticity and integrity, they can really boost the recipients’ morale. Kind words are and easy way to share a little love with someone, kind words are often received with a smile that brightens someones day. Kind words have the ability to change someone’s mood, elevate their spirits and possibly point them in a different direction for the day.
A little bit of kindness can go a long way to creating happiness in ourselves and others. Words can transform a life, they can bring peace, comfort and support to others.
- A smile
- A helping hand
- Kind words
- A sincere gesture
You can always find something positive to say in any situation, it just depends on your perspective. These are examples of some of the Dale Carnegie principles from How to Win Friends and Influence People
- Become genuinely interested in other people
- Never criticize, condemn or complain!
- Give honest and sincere appreciation
- Make the other person feel important and do it sincerely
According to The Random Acts of Kindness,
“it can take up to ten positive comments to counter-act one negative one. Positive affirmations are a very powerful tool. They change how we think and feel about ourselves, which then helps us transform our attitudes and actions with others. When we think positively about ourselves, our perspectives change and we are more able to see the positive in others.”
