My Challenge Today:
Looking outward together …
By Bernadette Kathryn, LMT, IHLC
Love does not consist in gazing at each other,
but in looking outward together in the same direction.
~ Antoine de Saint-Exupery
Looking outward together with someone you love is a remarkable thing, you can have a vision together, you can navigate the choppy waters of pursuing that vision and you can paint a picture together that is special for both of you. Having someone extraordinary to share you life with is a gift and honestly, it doesn’t have to be one special person, it can be many.
I have many extraordinary friends that share different parts of my life, some are ~
- Movie buddies
- Shopping gal pals
- Mexican food friends
- SCUBA adventurists
- Dinner party BFF’s
- Running partners
- Training partners
- Spiritual Board of Directors
- Tribal Counsel
- Good old fashioned GF support system
When we have many friends to share the moments of our life with ~ we are blessed with more opportunities to experience life from other points of view. We can learn from our friends, see things we might not have otherwise thought of, a change of perspective is a refreshing way to learn and grow. When we isolate ourselves we are limiting our opportunities and experiences, life is full of people so that we can have more fun, experience life through someone else’s eyes and imagination. Having a barn full of friends optimizes our opportunities for personal growth, personal pleasure and personal satisfaction.
We get to choose when to share and what to share with our best buds. It’s our life to design as we are inspired to do and having fabulous friends in our camp that help to keep us moving is a blessing. Great friendships are established over time with give and take just like anything else. You don’t develop a highly successful career over night, you don’t become an award winning athlete over night and you don’t develop deep loving relationships over night either ~ all things take time, patience and investment. When we invest in our education, we are investing in our life. When we invest in our relationships, we are investing in the fabric of our life, building a strong foundation to support our dreams. We all need people, we need friends, family and support systems to help us live a richer life!
