Your Challenge Today:
To keep growing in all areas of your life.

The key to success
is to keep growing in all areas of life
mental, emotional, spiritual, as well as physical.

“The key to success is to keep growing in all areas of your life…” that is what this game is all about, growing, learning, loving, and caring for ourselves and others so that we can experience all the joy and pleasure that life has to give.
Please don’t get me wrong – I know life is full of challenges, I have probably had my share, and I do not doubt that there will be others before it is all said and done. I remember long ago when I felt a little sad one day because the weather wasn’t beautiful and a dear friend of mine reminded me that if all the days were gorgeous, we wouldn’t be able to appreciate them. To every day there is darkness and light, up and down, high and low, it is the nature of life. It’s our challenge to make the most of our opportunities and gifts, share our talents with the world and enjoy the experiences as we learn and grow.
I like to think of it as a game ~ how can I learn to balance all the details that make my life work while remembering to inject some fun, friends, and playtime. How can I learn to get all the ‘chores’ of life completed responsibly while I also keep myself, my body, my home and my obligations in a healthy perspective? How do I balance what I want to do with what I need to do and feed my spirit? I remember during high school, my brother used to work loading trucks and he said the challenge for him was to think of the truck as a puzzle, fitting all the boxes into the truck in a manner that utilized the space efficiently and safely so that the contents would be preserved during transport. That description conjured up and image in my mind that I have often referred to when I am working on an organizational project, ‘it’s a puzzle.’ I may not come up with the best solution for the current challenge, but I usually find the process much more fun and more comfortable to face when I think of it as a game or puzzle, enjoying the journey.
To me, it’s approaching life as a game of chess ~ thinking through the options and coming up with the best solution with the information that I have available at the time. I may win some and lose some, but I never fail as long as I am learning. When I can approach a challenge in life with my spirit, I am bringing more to the party than my intellect; I have the added benefit of my heart.

WOW — Debbie — what fun! Do you need to take a massage therapist on your trip??? I might know one that could be perfect for the job!!

I remember years ago when Bernadette was visiting me and we were trying to figure out how all the plans of our day would fit and she used the “puzzle” method by asking me “what’s the last thing we need to do and what time do we need to be ther”? Then she suggested we work backwards from there to plan our timing. I have often reflected back on this when a task seems overwhelming. I can break it down and imagine it being done and look at what I had to do in each step to get there. Then I can choose how to proceed without getting paralyzed.
Today, as we deal with the death process in Sam’s family, I want to be present and supportive for him as I continue to plan the celebration of our union.
Really, you remember me saying that from some time ago? That’s cool — thanks for my brother and actually mom, she was great. I used to love to go to the office where she worked and watch her…. she taught me a lot about organization on those days. It’s amazing what one can absorb as a child just watching a parent…
I am very sorry to hear about Sam’s mom and my heart is with you all…. xoxo
