Your Challenge Today:
Personal responsibility …
By Bernadette Kathryn, LMT, IHLC
You must take personal responsibility.
You cannot change the circumstances,
the seasons, or the wind,
but you can change yourself.
That is something you have charge of.
~ Jim Rohn
I wish I could say that there is a magic formula in the world where we can change circumstances to whatever we want ~ but ~ I don’t believe we can any more than we can change the weather or traffic, some things we just have to accept and go with the flow. Going with the flow can be a big challenge to some of us and mindfulness meditation really helps keep me on track.
Practicing mindfulness meditation daily (even in short sessions) is an ideal way to keep my feet on the ground, take deep breaths and slow down long enough to take personal responsibility for my actions and choices. When I take personal responsibility for my behavior and do my best to learn from my results, I am better able to adjust my plan when necessary. Keeping a journal ~ food & exercise diary ~ has been my secret weapon to creating my Living Fit Lifestyle.
I don’t pretend to be perfect, in fact, I don’t even recommend it. Perfection is an illusion and shooting for perfection is a great way to kill your spirit ~ it’s boring and elusive. Shooting for a 90/10 or 80/20 success rate is much more doable and will provide just the right combination of fun and discipline to move us toward the success that we are seeking with our Living Fit Lifestyle. When we value ourselves, our bodies and our lives we respect our desires and take personal responsibility for our goals. This shift of attitude toward valuing and respecting our desires is the magic formula that we need to create the changes that support our SMART GOALS.

Part of my progress (not perfection) is going to be not contributing to the daily challenges starting Wed, 4/8 due to travel/conference schedule. I will continue to do my very best to moniter my food, water, exercise and sleep.
